I'll probably pass on this. Jimmy Eat World is playing the same venue in Chicago two months earlier for a radio show. I got $10 lawn tickets.
Dang Blossom on a Tuesday.. Was hoping Jacobs, wanted to see Jimmy Eat World support Integrity Blues but I guess I won't be any time soon.
Haha, I guess so. I'm happy that you where! Not that I'm overly excited to see these two bands together at Blossom. Haha. But I'll be there. I don't think I'm wrong about this show not being big enough for this venue. But hell I was wrong about Chance. Haha.
Did anyone try getting tickets for the Red Rocks pre-sale? After having center seats in row 21 and jumping through all the hoops, I encountered a generic error on the payments page, which forced me back to the homepage and having to start the process all over again. I ended up with center seats in row 31, but they're just as much as the ones 10 rows closer. So frustrating.
If you ever need proof that once bands get to a certain level they pay ZERO attention to who their management books to open, look at this tour. Jimmy Eat World makes perfect sense but Judah and the Lion are...gross.
The Blossom and Miami shows are on Groupon for $20 for lawn. Just a heads up, I assume most of the other dates will be on Groupon as well.
Think Incubus should've skipped the big opener (JEW) and just played 5-6k places rather than play amphitheaters.
What was their last big tour? A Deftones co-headline? Most of these modern rock bands can't fill these places anymore without a co-headliner, and even then sales can be real soft in some markets.
Yeah, I figured that would happen. What I am hoping for that they'll do the $10 pavilion upgrade when the pavilion isn't even half full. I have been a few shows where they've done that. Heck, I was there once or twice and they did free pavilion upgrades. Lol.
I can't say I disagree with that. But I also don't think Jimmy Eat World is really blazing any new trails and super popular at this current time. I saw them in the fall at the Newport in Columbus (1,700 capcity) with a lot of room in there. I think they could've done the 5K-6K theater / smaller amphitheater run with JEW and filled most of the places.
Jimmy Eat World is such a goddamn class act. Literally just got home from seeing them for the first time and it was amazing. Their keyboard player can hit some crazy high harmonies. Halfway through Blister a dude crowd surfed, hit the ground and didn't get back up, so Jim stopped the song and had people get out of the way of authorities. Then they finished out on the last chorus. (Dude is okay, he walked out of the venue.) Such a great setlist, I was very happy with how much of Integrity Blues they played even if the crowd was giving them a bit of "Yellowcard Syndrome." During the encore, Jim said they went back and discussed how we're the first crowd to sing along AND clap in time to Pass the Baby (the breakdown killllllled live). I got one of Jim's picks as well, so I have a setlist from his acoustic tour, a pick, and a signed Get Right single artwork poster. Sorry for the long post, this band means a lot to me and I'm very very happy right now. Oh, and It Matters was dope live, even if I was the only one who knew the words.
Glad to read how much you enjoyed it. Always something special about seeing your favorite band live for the first time!
I'm curious to see how well attended this is and what the setlists look like. The dress rehearsal show gives me hope that they'll really mix it up unlike their recent tours.
I am going to Syracuse next Saturday. Will report back after- but I am sure we will see some setlists posted online before then.
