Morning View is one of my favorite albums. Circles never gets old. Or Mexico. Or Warning. So on and so forth. I think they peaked here. They caught lightning and you can feel it in every song. Also sounds unbelievable driving through the desert at night.

 

I’ve never had such a strong line of demarcation for when I loved a band and decided I didn’t as when I heard “Love Hurts.” ACLOTM wasn’t great, but it had some good stuff. LG was so uneven and that song made me think they were going in a direction I wasn’t interested in.

Since then, it’s been endlessly frustrating listening to them do a bunch of middle of the road rock, knowing how talented they are. Still, SCIENCE-ACLOTM still goes. Kids these days won’t understand how huge they were with the high school/college crowd in their prime.

 

While I still have enjoyed everything since, I completely agree that LG was the point it changed from fucking great to pretty good

 

Yeah, at the time I convinced myself LG was on par, but I almost never revisit it. Some great tracks there though, I love Quicksand->AKTSUO, and I get a lot out of the Earth to Bella's, Dig, Paper Shoes. Anna Molly is a classic but overplayed.

For me personally, I've heard it enough times to last a lifetime.

Also, they've had it around the 3rd song of their live set since 2006, it wouldn't hurt to take a break.

 

While I agree that they reached their saturation point around Light Grenades, I'd still say A Crow Left of the Murder rules hard. I'm not the biggest Morning View fan and I think ACLOTM is better

 

No love for Fungus Among Us?

 

I jammed Fungus a lot in high school. There were some cool, funky songs on that.

 

I spent a lot of time with it earlier this year going through for my blog. Some fun nostalgia but nothing that I want to revisit regularly.

 

yeah, I haven't listened to it in years, probably doesn't hold up as well as the stuff that came after, but I used to love it.

I didn't know Dirk was in another band. Really miss his bass sound.

 

Here in my Room gives me goosebumps every damn time.

 

His sound is definitely missed...but Ben is still killing it. His work on Crow and Light Grenades is astounding.
