Horrible, horrible person. Also brilliant artist. To pretend the latter isn't true is just foolish. Bad people make great art, and not being able to recognize that is why people defend and deny for artists they like who do awful things. I'll probably spin Death of a Ladies Man and The Fabulous Ronettes today and wish he wasn't such a fucking bastard.
Serious question - what music is he known for producing that is widely considered good...? I thought he was mainly known for fucking up that Beatles album, being a piece of shit and murdering someone... I knew he was known as a prolific producer in that he produced a lot of music back in the day, but is he really thought of as a legendary, great producer??? Is it mainly because he popularized that particular sound / production style?
because he worked with already influential and established artists, so the baseline quality was high, and he blasted the ever loving shit out of the volume, which everyone does now but hadn’t really been done before
