Can't forget his awful history with workers rights & misogyny in his writing, but also can't forget his creative contributions to pop culture. His time with John Romita on Amazing Spider-Man is easily my favorite classic comic book run.
This one hurts, I honestly grew up with the man’s work and it’s hard to truly articulate just how much of an impact it had on me.
They won't be able to resist using every cameo they have built up, but I wouldn't mind seeing Avengers 4 be his last. Make that farewell to an era also be a farewell to Stan.
I believe he filmed a cameo for the next Spider-Man, which I think would be more fitting for a last cameo, one last laugh with his most famous creation.
I have as complicated feelings about Homecoming as I do the past couple iterations of Spider-Man. And, certain creative choices and the way the MCU has locked those choices in for the foreseeable future really bums me out. The idea of Far From Home being his final cameo also bums me out.
I’ve never seen my Twitter and Facebook feed so full of posts about the passing of the same person. It’s insane.
The number of people who have had a bigger or longer impact on popular culture is veeerrrryyyy small. I’m definitely having a hard time with this. I know he’s has some controversies recently but I’ve also seen from the inside just how horribly he was taken advantage of by the people who should have been advocating for him and how deeply he was hurt by his wife dying. I really wanted him to have a longer period of actual peace and relaxation finally, but part of me feels almost relieved that he isn’t going to be pushed and pulled by anyone anymore. Absolutely the end of an era. Next year’s Dragon Con will be a very different place.
