I'll always know him as Jeff, the guy who stole Kelly away from Zach in Saved by the Bell.

They had Starship Troopers toys when I was a kid. Such a strangely marketed movie.

I wasnt allowed to see Alien and still had all the toys. Imagine being the nerd on the market team who tries to explain the ideology of the SsT and why it doesnt make sense to sell to the toys children. Will kids buy it? ok do it.

Haha same! I had so many Alien and Predator and Alien vs. Predator toys, they were huge int he early 90s. I think I had seen scenes from Alien and Aliens and Predator, but never actually saw the movies themselves untl I was like....10? I'm pretty sure I had seen most of them when Resurrection came out

  10. When I was little, I asked my grandma to buy me the Police Academy police station. She was like "You've seen Police Academy?" and I was like "Nope, never heard of it, but I want this." She was hesitant to buy it for me, but she did anyway. I don't think I told her that I was planning on using it as the fire station for my Ghostbusters action figures, haha.

Cannot emphasize how monumental a presence Gerry Conway was in the world of comics.

Creator of Punisher, Tombstone, Jackal & Spider-clones, Jason Todd, Killer Croc, etc. Wrote the death of Gwen Stacy and the early romance of Peter & MJ. Did the original Spider-Man/Superman crossover (the first between the companies), and launched the first two Spidey spinoff titles (Marvel Team-Up & Spectacular Spider-Man). Wrote the first issue to other key series like Ms Marvel and Tomb of Dracula. As recently as the 2010s, he was doing great work on stuff like Carnage.

He also late in life was vocal about his disdain for right wing appropriation of the Punisher skull and used it to advocate for causes like trans rights.

The first Batman comic I ever read was a Two-Face story that he wrote.

RIP to a legend, who will always be in the top tier of Spider-Man writers.

The right wing stealing the Punisher logo and purposing it as a coded symbol to project their craven desires to harm people they disagree with is one of the most insulting things I could imagine happening as the character’s creator and it saddens me that he died seeing his work be twisted like that. He didn’t deserve that, he didn’t deserve to have some fucking dork like Chris Kyle or Kash Patel use his logo and profited off it. RIP to Gerry, finding those early run Punisher comics in the big ass box of comics my dad brought home from the flea market changed my life and I’ll never forget that.

I've worked with him a ton. In 2015 I saw his art on tumblr and reached out to hire him for To Live and Die in L.A. After that we worked together on countless releases, most recently for a series of art pieces for our Golden Princess/Hong Kong Cinema Classics line. Huge loss, very sad.

Ted Turner brought some bad stuff into the world (24/7 cable news), but he also championed classic films, classic cartoons, and pro wrestling so I gotta give him some props for that.

He would be losing his shit over what WBD did with Looney Tunes.
