RIP. Going to give Feed The Birds (arguably his greatest song and Walt's favorite) as listen Marry Poppins was obviously the biggest thing his brother and he were known for, but they wrote so much other stuff generations grew up hearing. Especially the music in the Disney theme parks. It's A Small World After All All the songs from the Jungle Book (except for Bare Necessities) Chitty Chitty Bang Bang The "Wonderful thing about Tiggers" song from Winnie the Pooh Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow song from the Carousel Of Progress The Tiki Room song One Little Spark from Journey Into Imagination
Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies of all time, but their work on Bedknobs and Broomsticks is just as good. "The Age of Not Believing" always hits me. RIP legend.
The Shermans did the music for The Aristocats as well. There is a pretty good Sherman Brothers doc on Disney+, and obviously there is also Saving Mr. Banks where Richard is played by Jason Schwartzman.
Oh that’s so tragic, I read a number of his reviews over the years. I enjoyed his writing and outlook on film.
I highly recommend his podcast with Eric Vespe called The Kingcast, which was all about Stephen King books/adaptations and had amazing guests. He also had an upcoming Hellraiser podcast called Jesus Wept, which I think was only released to patreon members so far. And basically everything Nathan said. I’ve been following him on Twitter for years and he was hilarious and it’s going to be weird never seeing his posts again. RIP Scott
