I’m not sure how it happened (it had nothing or very little to do with music, I know that), but they were kind of a meme/running gag among my friends when we were teens so I weirdly have happy memories attached to a band I never really listened to. R.I.P. Might listen to Ass Cobra this week.
Truthfully, I've never listened to the band either, but I've seen them mentioned a lot on sites I frequent and I've enjoyed reading about them.
To be fair the name is horrifically off-putting. Apparently they ment well, but that stopped excusing it a long time ago.
Bill Hinsche of Dino, Desi & Billy Dies at 70 on the Same Day as His Mom Billy played with Desi Arnaz back in the day and also was a touring member with The Beach Boys from the 70s-90s. My dad’s been taking virtual 1:1 guitar lessons from him once a week for the last year and a half. He got my dad passionate about learning guitar and now he has more (and nicer!) guitars than I do. Real bummed for my dad… My dad even showed Billy my band’s music, which I’m sure was not actually his cup of tea, but he said nice things about it anyway, and my dad was sooo stoked to tell me the nice things he said. Haha. Anyway, this news was pretty shocking to me even though I never actually talked to him. But I know how happy he made my dad…
Have you ever met a proctologist? Well, they usually have a very good sense of humor. You meet a proctologist at a party, don't walk away. Plant yourself there, because you will hear the funniest stories you've ever heard. See, no one wants to admit to them that they stuck something up there. Never! It's always an accident. Every proctologist story ends in the same way: "It was a million-to-one shot, Doc. Million-to-one."
I found out about his death literally while watching the scene where he's observing Jonathan Larson's workshop in Tick Tick Boom. Very weird.
