Has anyone else read this? I'm about 30 pages in and the writing just feels...weak? I guess? Like creepypasta writing. Maybe it'll pick up. The calls coming from the narrator's own phone/the man in the window being so tall you can't see his face reminds me of something a person on /nosleep would come up with.
I LOVED this book. Honestly i've rarely seen people be middle of the road for the book. They either love it or hate it. Very interested to see how the movie plays the final act. @OhTheWater, try to push through, interested in how you feel at the end.
Yeah I keep hearing about how good the ending is. I'm definitely going to finish it, I'm just a bit turned off with the writing style. I'm sure I'll ease into it
Don't know anything about the book (and I'm going to keep it that way) but Kaufman + This cast has me very excited
the book was a very fun read but as @OhTheWater said the writing is really bad I love Kaufman and am excited to see how he transforms the material but I gotta wonder why this is what he wanted to adapt
I love pretty much everything he’s ever made, Synecdoche is one of my favorite films. Just feels like a weird choice for source material, not sure how he’s gonna elevate it as it’s really straightforward but I enjoyed the book for what it was and from what I’ve read this will be quite different. I trust him but gotta wonder why this is what compelled him
For sure, I was just making a random comment on it. It’s probably my most anticipated film right now.
Really curious how he adapts this story. Also, Kaufman's got a 700+ page novel coming out in May called Antkind. It sounds like what you'd expect from him but in book form.
Bought the book a few days ago and just finished it. Unfortunately I watched something with a very similar twist recently and about a third of the way into the book I knew exactly what was going on. Only time my theory really faltered was when Jake actually said the narrator’s name in the car, because the lack of pronouns/true indication that there may have actually been more than one person in the car the whole time was where my suspicion kinda started. Cool story regardless though and I’m excited to see a visual portrayal by Kaufman
The book that doesn't come out until May you mean? EDIT: Aw snap, I see people are selling it on ebay already. Double edit: realized this thread is about another book he is adapting...
