That's a generalized statement. Democratic Socialism works well for smaller wealthy countries like Denmark or Luxembourg, but tends to have a lot of issues in bigger countries like Brazil and Venezuela. The U.S. wouldn't be the global leader in GDP if it was founded on Democratic Socialism.

Its easier to implement a democratic socialist government when there are less people impacted and when those countries already have wealth. Im not saying capitalism is the complete answer, there needs to be a happy medium between the 2 from a policy perspective. Affordable healthcare and a proper education for example should be made available to all citizens.

I'm a douchebag because I support certain aspects and principals of capitalism which are very beneficial to society? Lol talk about jumping to conclusions and closed mindedness. Instead of having interesting conversations and discussions on this site, the majority of users on this site just jump to name calling, making false assumptions, and snarkiness. I got my bachelors degree in both finance and economics and can tell you there are many benefits to capitalism as well as many pitfalls where democratic socialism should be implemented. Of course it is a matter of opinion but being rude doesn't help anyone. Grow up.

"Global leader in GDP" is a really fucked up metric to use when comparing the success of a country.

You're basically saying "doesn't matter how the average citizen lives as long as there are some mega rich people pulling up the GDP"

if you ask me, it makes more sense to judge a country by how the bottom 10% fair.

 

I've found it best when it comes to chorus.fm (I don't recall this so much back in the AP.net days) to just let it be the echo chamber it is. I really don't mean for that to be a jab, it seems that there's a majority mindset here and that's fine. I'm left myself but the new far-left "progressive" socialist movement (w/ outrage culture as a bonus) isn't my thing. It's like the far right tea-party resurgence from a couple elections ago. Thought that was weird then, I think this is weird now. And I'm for a progressive tax, but I also think it's important to be reasonable. I'm not looking to debate or argue, just my observations and opinion.
