Their post-hardcore material from their first album Last Chance to Make Amends and their first EP The Burning was their best work imo, before original guitarist Jeremy Schwartz left the band. Then a friend of mine from high school Justin DeBlieck replaced him in 2009 and they went horror metalcore lol. He then left the band in 2019 to go into producing.
"While we were playing, a vehicle drove into the middle of the venue. I think the guy was trying to kill his girlfriend." We asked Ice Nine Kills' Spencer Charnas to give us some life lessons and man does he have stories
I actually did enjoy The Predator Becomes the Prey and Every Trick in the Book, and the latter was neat because it was the first time they were doing a concept like that. The Silver Scream 1 is fine but them being completely stuck on the theme now and becoming so incredibly far up their own asses with it turned me off. Obviously they were always up their own asses to a degree with the infamous rivalry with Jason but now it's on such a grander scale The re-record they did of Safe is Just a Shadow pre-Silver Scream was pretty cool too
Yeah agreed. I was torn because Justin DeBlieck (JD) was always a pretty chill guy but the music INK started to make when he joined just wasn't the same. I met Spencer and Jeremy outside a venue here in Rochester right before Taste of Chaos in 2008 when they were one of the openers and I dug their sound, but then they went in a complete different direction after JD replaced Jeremy.
