They're blowing up and they deserve every bit of acclaim they get. That's awesome. Trans and nonbinary folks can be filmbros too!!
This movie rules. I've shown it to multiple friends that pass thru Pittsburgh. I used to travel, most of these kids are queer/trans and hop trains and hitchhike and they've all loved it
I'm going to see nosferatu tomorrow but I don't think I've seen anything else this good this year that's been released this year. I haven't watched metropolis, furiosa is great but this stuck with me more.
This is my favorite of the year and it isn't particularly close, even if The Substance and A Different Man were up there
Oh yeah, this is undoubtably my favorite of the year. Kinda wanna rewatch it before too long, though I know I’ll have to be ready before I do. In the meantime, I have this video to periodically dip my toes back into the world of the film:
I think about this movie so often. It’s masterful from top to bottom. I’m not sure that I’ll be able to sit through some repeat viewings, but it’s the type of movie I could spend hours dissecting
I am loving everything about this except some of the dialogue, which comes across as overwritten and a bit corny. Really laying the themes on extra thick when I think a lot of it could be cut out. Visuals, music, everything else is great
I really latched onto the isolation and fear of being locked inside yourself, questioning whether or not there really is a “potential” for you to live up to. The speech about time moving so quickly (except for the hamfisted line about skipping dvd chapters or whatever) also resonated. Owen screaming for his mother at the end shook me pretty deeply as well. Again, I wish the writing was a bit stronger when it came to the dialogue (the big climatic speech ending with making it to “season six” and talking about Luna Juice was silly and deflated what I thought was a great scene), but the themes and visuals and pretty much everything else will stick with me for a while. I am happy it was made.
