This article has been imported from chorus.fm for discussion. All of the forum rules still apply. Zach Lind of Jimmy Eat World doesn’t seem to be a fan of former tourmate Stephan Jenkins of Third Eye Blind, calling him a “creepy fucking douchebag” on Twitter. Stephan Jenkins is such a fucking creepy douchebag. (I feel so much better now) — Zach Lind (@zlind76) August 4, 2019 Expand - View Original
Wow. I mean, not surprised but still. That picture he posted about the laminates is totally their "green M&Ms" story.
"I genuinely feel bad for anyone stepping in to defend this dude when they have no idea what they’re defending. My assessment of the man here is extravagantly generous." I'm curious of the nature of his problem with Stephen. He seems really pretentious, but to say that people "have no idea what they're defending" makes it sound much worse than that.
I'd wager virtually every artist headlining those size venues has a similar system in place backstage. I don't even think that even gets close to the douchiest thing about SJ.
Every one I've worked with has wristbands and/or laminates. Sure they might be escorted by management or security around but they still have the things.
Seconded. I believe the only other time I’ve heard this is with Kings of Leon. If Robert Plant has a laminate, TEB should be holding spinning billboard arrows. And I like TEB.
all laminates do is make me think of every single guy from a long island band that got to play a show/festival that required laminates, and they'd keep the laminates on their key chains forEVER, as they got torn, faded, gross, etc. just so it could be some sort of conversation starter or people would see them and know they must be in a band lol like they played at 10am on bamboozle day 1 on the smallest stage in 2006 and kept the laminate on their keys until 2012
“Take the trail with the sign that says “creep” and go all the way to the end.” He tweeted this in response to a tweet that asked “Jesse Lacey creep level?” Sounds like he’s probably a predator
Didn't this guy fuck over his band members by going behind their backs and signing a special contract with the label that gave him all the song/royalty rights? Feel like the fact that he is a dick is nothing new...
Every time a band member leaves, he acts like they no longer exist, and that he was the sole person responsible for the band. I really like a good portion of the 3EB catalog, but the way Jenkins treats the other members of the band is real shitty. Here's an article from a few years back on the matter: How's It Gonna Be? Founding Third Eye Blind members fight for right to acknowledge contributions
Drag the guy for being a creep, not because he doesn't want to wear his laminate. In the grand scheme of things, the sign does not matter AT ALL.
https://music.avclub.com/singer-songwriter-john-vanderslice-on-the-very-personal-1798238890 Nice read about the real Stephen Jenkins, it’s a shame because TEB’s music is fantastic, but he seems like someone I wouldn’t like...after reading this I feel like I actually know what this guy is really like and its awful.
Not defending him at all. Just saying it's common practice. And I read Zach's follow-up tweet to notice that he's in the center of the photo – which, again, is not a big deal in comparison if there's actual abuse and predatory behavior happening.
I feel like for Zach to make a series of statements like this immediately after the tour was done tells me that he probably witnessed a hell of a lot more than SJ just being a dink.
In the current #metoo era, I have no idea how Stephan Jenkins and Jared Leto have gotten by unscathed. The tweets about the after-party thing is 100% believable too.
yeah this definitely seems to be about way more than the laminate thing, which seems like a band-wide thing as a whole and not just a SJ thing
SJ is the band in his eyes. Everyone else is disposable. There's a reason why he was the only one on the last two album covers. He's an arrogant, narcissistic, scummy person. Now we might be seeing that his behavior extended way beyond professional relationships.
