Sounds like I misjudged this, cause this is getting some love at TIFF

 

More excited to see this after hearing the buzz. Excited to see Constance Wu in anything, but the trailer wasn't doing a ton for me initially.

i think this is going to be a huge hit and im v excited to watch it this weekend

 

It’s very good. J-Lo and Wu kill it. The supporting cast is a lot of fun. After being somewhat disappointed with “Widows” and massively bummed by “The Kitchen,” I’m glad a female heist-type movie finally delivered. It’s not perfect, probably goes on a little too long and has some weird, on-the-nose parts, but overall, it’s really delightful.

Not to turn this into a widows thread, but the scene in the gymnasium with Daniel Kaluuya's character was probably my favorite scene in a movie all last year.

And just wanted to state that the comparisons pretty much end with both being about females being driven to crime. Each has totally different goals and approaches. “Widows” was a drama, this is closer to a dark comedy.

I really hope they push J-Lo hard for supporting actress, because she could win it.

 

even if this was just Cardi wearing a Von Dutch hat and holding a vibrator and Lizzo playing her flute and yelling Bitch it's Usher it would have been the greatest movie ever made
everyone did great even Julia Stiles and Lili Reinhart who had smaller roles and that one Jamm scene
the soundtrack was great and I love when movies like this incorporate pop music
having a female director definitely helped and I liked how sympathetic it was to everyone

Fun fact I somehow just learned yesterday Lorene is Bo Burnham's long time girlfriend

 

It was forecast around $20-25 mil and it’s looking like $32!

 

When Love in This Club played while Usher actually showed up in the movie...just give them the fucking Oscar now

 

That and the rooftop smoking scene were my two favorites
