This band is new to me but I definitely prefer the new songs to the old. Is the new album more in the vein of the new stuff released or ...
Slack and why are absolute monsters - love them. Most of the album is solid but bottle and those two are massive
Just listened to Slack for the first time and really into it. Saw these guys live like 8 years ago with Defeater and thought they were just aight, but this new style is pretty cool. Will be checking out the full thing tomorrow for sure. Bring on the pop.
So. I listened to the leak a few times like a month ago or whenever that was. Not gonna lie I was a little let down, the EP tracks stuck out more than I hoped they would and the production on some of the more Tame Impala-y tracks felt really abrasive to me. But I’m excited to put it on this weekend with adjusted expectations and in better quality I will say Out Of Sight and Slack are the jams tho
Listening now, on Whatever. It is kind of jarring hearing the (what I presume to be) newer, more electronic songs next to Whatever, Cauterize, etc. It might not have that effect if they didn't release those first. Still digging the songs individually though. Got a good way to go and haven't hit some of the highlights mentioned in here.
There's a lot of 1975 influence here. Some of the more "rock" songs give off some B&C LWM vibes, at least instrumentally.
This records pretty great don’t hear 1975 much at all, but whoever said Now Now in Bottle it Up, yupppp silver is next level for them
Def b and c vibes mixed with the electronics - silver and iridescent are really climbing for me after instantly falling for slack, why and bottle
I think they should take out “Whatever” and “Cauterize” to shorten up the album, but pretty damn good. I was really pleased with the songs I hadn’t heard like “Out of Sight,” “Why,” and “Way Out.”
re: this sounding like The 1975 you can almost sing "Fraaaaaaaaaaaillll state of miiiiiiiyyyynd" over Why
