This entire album rollout has been baffling to say the least.

you’re just defaulting to your biases about AI but I bet if you engage with your eyes and ears and ignore the AI you will walk away impressed like everyone else, or something

The whole debate about that video still makes me laugh so much because of how passionate he was about the “creative vision” or whatever blah blah when in reality it was just a fucking star in a bunch of random nonsense locations

Maybe they blew their marketing budget on making this dumb truck happen and couldn’t afford to pay real artists

  7. The brand Vacation, which is known for selling things like cologne and sunscreen, used to do the same bit by including things like a jet ski and a tiki bar in their store. Don’t really get how a truck fits into whatever brand Hundredth are attempting to curate with this cycle, but it did make me laugh

Well AI and trucks both destroy the planet, so I kinda get the theme they're going for now

A Grand Scene For A Color Film Prestigious

It’s obviously a gimmick and built to order, the real funny thing is that anyone that tries to purchase it will most definitely be flagged for credit card fraud

Pretty certain that it is, peep the ear. I'll be listening, but won't be buying a physical copy. My physical collection is for art done by humans.

I recently got August Burns Red's Death Below, and once I physically held it in my hands it felt a little icky. AI art especially doesn't hold up on a physical copy where you can look closely at it.

Also won't bother owning a physical copy of this for the same reasons,

All the merch for this is ugly as fuck too since pretty much everything is based on that star image on the cover.

It’s upsetting to see that this is the conversation. The art is terrible. It’s bad for the environment. I’m a clown for being proud of the music and aesthetic. That’s the narrative, right?

Meanwhile people are calling it the best thing they’ve done. Yet weeks later, the only takeaway is how stupid I must be for showing up and engaging with anyone about the polarization of AI art, whether they liked it or not.

All because it’s just a balloon. And not only is it just a balloon, it’s apparently ruining the world and somehow proof that we’re fascist alt right AI fanatics.

Really inspiring. To those actually stoked on it, thank you.

    very stoked on the record.
the AI debate is complex and think will only get more complex as folks with limited budgets push the bounds of DIY.

but for now, loving the music

Nobody said a lot of those things you just said but anyway. If people are proud of it, that’s cool, but that doesn’t make AI art any less shitty man

The music is good. The production is good. The “art” is really bad

I don’t really care what Chadwick decides to do with AI as long as I dig the music and no AI is used in the creation of it. All these singles have been pretty stellar and exciting so that’s what I’m personally choosing to focus on.

Do I love the use of AI? No. Do I see the dangers of it? Yeah. However, I’m sure Hundredth doesn’t make much money at all (the truck is joke y’all) since they don’t tour so if he’s able to put together some marketing for low cost - I can’t really blame him. It’s sadly the time times we live in. At least it’s an actual artist using it to their benefit to build off something they made completely on their own? Idk

Anyways - I’m super hyped for this new record. Production sounds great too!

Nah, because it's still stealing from other artists, so there is no excuse. And "the times we live in" thing is bullshit. If you don't use it, it won't get used. It's actually simpler than doing it because you do nothing at all. So yeah you can blame him for stealing from artists to make his AI trash, while it also destroys the planet.

But yeah the music is amazing. Both things can be true. They don't get to steal art just because we like their music.

also I know people have respect for this band so I’m willing to give the band members the benefit of a doubt but in general I do question the integrity of artists willing to engage in AI so fully that they develop an entire facet of a project using it, especially when it’s not like the sentiment surrounding the use of AI - and the fact of all its ills - exists in some vacuum they might not be aware of.

for me, it diminishes the value of the entire thing and feels inauthentic. not saying that AI can’t produce cool imagery out of billions of stolen parts, but it is inherently, upsettingly hollow.

The implication that lesser-known artists cannot succeed without the use of AI is pretty absurd.
