Always loved Hum and this is a comeback done right. Inlet’s sound and release remind me of Sleep’s latest album. Sprawling, drawn out heavy riffs.

When the drums switch up at 3:50 in Cloud City with the driving 4/4 groove over the 5/4 riff >>>>

Folding might be my favorite track. It's so perfect after the heaviness of Cloud City.

The pre-outro bridge with vocals on Folding is a highlight of their career... I wish it went on even longer tbh. Pretty damn chilling

I swear it’s like each individual chord, guitar lead and guitar effect in Folding was specifically designed to fit my tastes

  19. Man, there is so much going on in "Desert Rambler." That riff is punishing.

At the risk of reiterating what people have been saying for the last 30+ hours, the coolest thing about this record is that it didn’t need to exist. Their original run of music was timeless and influential in its own way (Astronaut and Downward especially), I’ll be listening to those records for the rest of my life. Since I really got into them I’ve always thought a new record would have been cool to have, but not necessary per se. And somehow out of complete nowhere they drop a record that feels just as essential as the old stuff. Not just a new album by some old dudes who are past their prime spinnin the wheel one more time, but another classic Hum album. Fuckin magic
