The riff in "Step Into You," the bridge in "Folding," just so many highlights here. Everyone's already harped on it a bunch but I just can't fathom putting out a record this good after a 22-year hiatus. I hope they receive all of the acclaim and kind words they deserve edit: yep, listening to "Shapeshifter" and just...in awe of how good this is. truly something I needed right now
Step into You is the most obvious highlight to me so far bc it's concise, upbeat and hooky in a way that sets it apart from the rest. This record, for all its sprawling glory, really would've been incomplete without at least one Stars/Green to Me type track.
it’s kinda pointless. there are actually dozens of examples. the sonics went like 40 years lol. but this album should be the focus.
Actually, I've just listened to the Shiner album twice in a row after doing a discography run the previous weeks and... it rips. We're so blessed. Going to give this one a second listen then revisit their previous albums as it's been a few years.
Some of the riffs on here are monstrous. The one they throw in on The Summoning around the two minute mark and then again at 4:19 just destroys.
