Figured I'd share this here after I just revisited it since jamming this album today. Zach does an incredible job covering In The Den. Not only that, but his channel is guitar tone goodness. Also, If you're into Hum style guitar tones, check out his band, Naked Pictures. Their album WIDE is really good.
Man I've seen so many Hum bootlegs over the last few years I'm not even sure that cracks my top 5 haha
And to think people wouldn’t have to make bootlegs at all if their official merch didn’t look like T-shirts you would get at a zoo gift shop
Apparently before he passed Bryan formed a band and recorded an album that Matt produced. Full thing due out April 5th: Amblare "Amblare" LP
Excited to listen to that and as must be said every time this thread gets bumped, this is still one of the most surprising and excellent albums of the 2020s so far
Looking forward to listening to that album. And yeah I hadn’t listened to Hum before this album in 2020, but Inlet has become an all-timer for me. Simply fantastic
I think I prefer Astronaut and DIH BUT that takes absolutely nothing away from it, three absolutely stellar records
if I had to pick one step into you is my top pick on the album but waves and shapeshifter are close. in the den and desert rambler not far behind either
This thread is the only place where I read people talk about this album and I think, "Whoa settle down guys." The Summoning's the one though. That riff in the middle: occasionally I want it in my ears, I type it in on Spotify, and have to be confronted with the Sleep Token song. But it's worth it.
It's so hard to choose, so many brilliant songs on this album. I just think the last 3 minutes of Shapeshifter are my favorite in the whole Hum discography. I can't sing along to those final lines without getting choked up.
