I was thinking this. A lot on here is quite "simple" as you say, but the work as a whole elevates it.
eh, i disagree. i don’t think failures second album back got much hype but i also think that’s bc 3/4 of the album was released ahead of time through EPs. heart is a monster and their tour for it was pretty big though.
I liked a few songs from this band going into this but absolutely love this album front to back, "Folding" is definitely one of the best songs I have heard this year, "Step into You" and "Cloud City" are other favs at the moment
it's the score they give records that they know are great but they can't bear with the shame of being seen giving a "commercial rock record" an 8+
Don’t post in the music forums much anymore, but felt inclined to come in here to say this album fucking rules. Never listened to this band before (at least not knowingly), but I love this and am looking forward to listening to other bands mentioned in this thread like Failure and Shiner
The more I listen to this album, the more I wouldn't be that bothered if Step Into You wasn't on it. It's a good song but the album wouldn't lose anything without it either.
Yeah that might be my favorite lol, definitely more traditionally structured compared to most of the other songs on here but love the lead/solo riff at the end so much and the lyrics are very strong as well
Oh why don't you all fucking marry it then?! No seriously, I really like it. It's just easily the most dispensable song on here to me.
YPAA was 9 songs, DIH was 10, this was 8, so by my calculations we’re only a few records away from them making their Dopesmoker
