How to buy music and be sure the artist is paid?

Hi! I have been streaming music on Spotify and Apple Music for a while, and though that is a great way to discover music and listen to things I would never buy, I want to directly support the artists I love and have a forever-download of their records.

Is bandcamp guaranteed to be artist controlled? It sounds like it, but I'm not sure if labels might control their artists' bandcamp pages.
