Pretty cool how TikTok can revitalize hits from our youth. Simple Plan always comes across as such a wholesome, genuine group of people.

Love it for the artists whose old songs go viral. Don't love it for my wallet tho lol. It's such a weird feeling to actually kinda hope an old artist I like doesn't go viral until after I buy my concert tickets :crylaugh:

I'm curious, which artists have you experienced this with? I find concert tickets are mostly reasonable for older artists that weren't massive back in the day. The blink-182's, Green Day's, etc. will always be expensive. But I saw New Found Glory with The All-American Rejects a year and a half ago or so, and they were reasonably priced GA tickets

At their original peak I saw My chemical romance for like 40 bucks max and that was GA floor. During their reunion tour I paid several hundred and for worse seats. With Paramore I did get lucky with tickets but they definitely had a resurgence that made getting tickets more difficult than they were before. I guess I should say hypothetically because apparently they're not a fan of Portland and they don't actually play here all that often so I don't have as much to compare to. But I think the demand for them def increased. I feel like I heard some stories after Pierce the veil went viral but honestly I have never listened to them so can't speak much on that

But ultimately I would rather the artists make a living and do well and I am glad that those artists have stood the test of time.

Of course this is just anecdotal too

I think what you're describing is more just the crazy price hike in concert tickets now vs. back in the day (I can relate, as I also saw bands for cheap back then). I saw Paramore and My Chemical Romance at WWWY, and the majority of the audience (granted, at a festival) was in their 30's and 40's. Definitely not people who picked up the bands from TikTok. Did you notice a lot of younger fans when you saw them at dedicated shows?

Oh I'm sure ticket price increases are a large part of it as well as the nostalgia boom. Def noticed a lot of younger fans at MCR which was awesome! I see a lot of youths walking around with their merch on too. Unfortunately Paramore cancelled their show here so I didn't get to see, but I work with kids and they def seem popular with some teens and stuff as well, especially still into you which I think blew up on tiktok.

I'm taking my friends teenage son to the simple plan tour this summer and it'll be fun to see the demographics present. They were my first concert when they opened up for avril Lavigne in 2002 and now I'm taking a 13 year old to see them which will be his first rock concert so I'm feeling old af

And semi related to this conversation, the other day a 12 year old asked if I was alive yet during "Advril Lavigne's" prime and I felt ready to enroll for my AARP membership

That should be fun! My 8-year-old boys' first concert was Warped Tour when they were 2 lol. The last year it was a full traveling thing, and I couldn't have them miss it.

Dang, during Avril's prime...that makes me feel old too.
