while we’re doing this y’all should check out the lots of hands record from earilier. I can hear the more “electronic” side of hovvdy in them. lots of hands - into a pretty room (January 17, 2025) • forum.chorus.fm
cover album of BSS' You Forgot It In People coming June 6th, featuring Hovvdy among other great artists like Toro y Moi, Spirit of the Beehive, and more.
Hell yeah. I was wondering how they were going to handle a certain really great but problematic track that I see now is missing.
I was just listening to Maggie's track this morning. I'm not hip to BSS, but I'll be giving this comp a spin.
I get this, but at the same time I never really thought of it as problematic. Kevin is openly bi and the song is about an affair with a closeted married man. It’s a sensitive area but I don’t think it crosses the line. Also based on this post, he’s begun asking permission from live audiences before performing it, in case the word offends anyone. https://www.reddit.com/r/brokensocialscene/s/tJqlPAauU9
highly HIGHLY recommend checking out You Forgot It In People or their self-titled. some of the best indie rock albums ever.
I agree, the track doesn't offend me at all and it's actually one of my favorites on the record, I just know it probably hits a little differently for some folks. Not surprised to not see it on the comp, but I wish it was there in some capacity.
It is the same night as Ben Folds in my hometown. I'd rather see Hovvdy, but no one ever comes here and my brother and I got tickets.
Modest Mouse is maybe my favorite band and I’d pick Hovvdy over them. Smaller venue and they absolutely rip live.
Definitely. I just would rather have both haha (especially since I haven't seen Hovvdy yet and have seen Modest Mouse a ton)
