god the stride this album hits in the back half should be studied. Til I let you know, meant, every exchange, portrait, bad news I mean Jesus Christ man
I think the run time of this is keeping it from beating out True Love as my top album by them. they're not really the kind of band I can listen to for too long or else the songs start sounding the same.
There are plenty of 12 or 13 track albums that clock in at 45 minutes or more, 53 minutes is shorter than many “deluxe” versions of pop albums that people eat up. I think calling this a double album is slightly disingenuous to begin with, but I’m inclined to receive it as the band presents it, and if that’s as a double album, ok.
Def agreed those albums are just WAY too long and 53 is not that bad in comparison. But I’m still feeling the length here whereas with True Love, I’m left fully satisfied if not wanting more.
They called it a double-album in the press release, which is probably why so many writers are referring to it as such. Otherwise, I would agree that this is closer to something like The Lonesome Crowded West than a bonafide double-album. But who cares honestly
I've been thinking about how a bunch of the record (especially that first chunk) sounds like early earnest Modest Mouse. Like, if they'd thrown in a cover of something like "Workin' On Leavin' The Livin'," "Baby Blue Sedan," "Make Everyone Happy," or "You're The Good Things," it would fit so well.
Love this, 19 songs with no filler. Album seems to fly by and I just want to hit play again when I get to the end.
Got my deluxe record as well :) a pleasant surprise during this week from Hell. Switching out my record player now so I can actually spin it tonight.
Interview still coming, some of you guys probably know I had some bad life shit throw me for a loop last week but hoping to recover this week and get this thang published
