It can’t be overstated just how fucking cool “Tools” is. I’m fascinated by the post-808s use of autotune infiltrating diy/emo-adjacent music (major examples being this and the new Strange Ranger). An unexpected creative turn that I am 100% into.
friday was one of the biggest release days of the year and this is what I keep coming back to. a perfect album imo and just about everything I wanted from a duo that is quickly becoming an all-time favorite. will absolutely be catching them live soon. like @username said, I love “tools” and the use of auto-tune and beat fills (for lack of a better word) on other tracks. would love to see them lean into that for a full album or even just an EP.
It sucks but I’ve just resigned myself to the fact that band I like are going to keep working w/ then so long as the only publicly available info is those handful of features set to basically clear Evan’s name. I would hope they are open to listening if someone tries to talk to them but I also don’t know what I should expect an artist to do based on third or fourth hand information. Furthermore, I know even less about what happens once these touring contracts are signed and such. e: I should clarify that when I say what information is out there, I am not advocating for the release of information that the survivor has not consented to.
nice track. I think that this album doesn't quite live up to the greatness of "Cathedral," but I still think it's really good and maybe I'll give it a spin later today
