Song’s fun, very short and was surprised when it ended. Gonna be an easy one to run back a lot Those post punk revival-y guitar stabs are an inspired choice. Obviously that one vocal section too. My favorite thing about s/t was that it kinda felt like a collage of everything Hovvdy up to that point, and I’m now very excited to find out if some of the flourishes in Try Try Try are indicative of them exiting the comfort zone a bit
not the same style by any means but this immediately reminded me of Whitney's single for SPARK and how we were excited for the potential shift. ultimately, it was kind of a one off and not indicative of the final album. hope they lean into this sound a bit.
Good song, honestly expected it to be a lot weirder based on that one vocal clip (that's probably my least favorite part of the song). Sounds a little fuzzier but more energetic than the early slowcore stuff. Excited to hear more!
Rough Trade has a red/yellow split LP limited to 100 copies, same price as the black LP: https://www.roughtrade.com/en-us/product/hovvdy/big-world-1#57250441986379
Every time I buy a record now, which is not often, I'm never not taken aback by $8 shipping. $50 used to be the absolute most I would spend on records, and those were like, REALLY special records...now $40 is the average for anything shipped, including single LPs. Feels bad man
I stopped buying records except for a few of my favorite bands. It's expensive and I never listen to them.
I have done the same, except it seems like they come in waves (pretty sure I spent over $80 on preorders for Modest Mouse and this)
yeah I pre-ordered the modest mouse record cause they're my favorite band and I have all the others on vinyl. I don't have any of Hovvdy's so I'm just not going to start lol.
Alex G, Modest Mouse, Hovvdy, Deftones, and Greet Death are all pretty much instant purchase artists for me.
