Thanks for the advice, I plan on hitting it up tonight with some friends. Like you said, going out on a weekday with work looming the next day sounds like a pain, but the prospect of jamming out to Brand New and other jams in a club sounds pretty cool.
Alright, emo night was definitely worth it. Had a blast, but also realized emo night is basically my eighties night. 0_o Definitely plan on going back.
Barbs is fun for sure. Never been to emo night but it sounds fun. I'll definitely check it out sometime. Jamie xx and The National were 100% worth the rain and mud at free press this past weekend. Wow wow wow. First time seeing both of them. Anyone plan on catching The Hotelier tonight?
Summerfest ended up being fun despite the change in location. I actually think the weather helped since it wasn't super hot all weekend. I managed to be in the front row for Modest Mouse. How was Hotelier? I didn't check them out since I went to the Thrice show.
It's the first tuesday of every month at Barbarella. It's pretty sweet if you don't mind staying up late!
I went to Taste of Chaos, Saosin blew my mind. Then I am going to drive to Austin tomorrow to catch Brand New and Modest Mouse.
Amazing. I'm curious how many more tours they have left, though. I do love that band. Going to any other shows recently? There are a ton coming up in Sept-Oct-Nov
List of bands I would see in the houston/ austin area if I had unlimited time and resources (in chronological order): Blink 182 - July 31 Wye Oak Jeremih Drake & Future The Kills Crystal Castles Death Cab Tegan & Sara KANYE Beyonce Alabama Shakes ACL Festival Haim Die Antwoord Local Natives Yellowcard Temper Trap Chance The Rapper Taylor Swift Sia Adele Sound on Sound Fest Animal Collective - November 15 As of now I only have my ticket to ACL... anything I'm missing? Anything y'all are going to?
I'll be seeing blink on Sunday! Foxing is coming to White Oak Music Hall so I might hit that up. Yellowcard is a most likely TBS is a maybe. Tickets are pretty pricey for me
I plan on going to Morrissey at White Oak Music Hall, other than that maybe The Menzingers and Bayside at HOB.
There is a lot. I'll post my list sometime this weekend How is the new white oak music venue(s)? Any good, new bars people are enjoying?
I may got to Donkeys tonight at Continental, Voodoo in New Orleans. - maybe Buxton Death from Above, Animal Collective, - maybe Naked and Famous TBS I'm waiting for the Whateverfest Lineup before I commit. Metric was great last year.
White Oak is pretty good, but parking can be awful. The newest bar I've checked out is the Conservatory, it's in downtown and underground. Pretty nice, 4 different food vendors, and a large beer selection.
Hey y'all! I'm gonna be seeing TTNG tonight and it'll be the first time I'll be at the new White Oak Music Hall! Fitzgerald's was my favorite venue, so I'm eager to see how this new place will be. I really do love the music scene we have here in Houston. It helps amid all the humidity haha
Was White Oak finished when you went? I've only ever been outside. Can't wait to check out the entire venue.
