ok so 1 epic dragon vs dragon fight down .. 5 or 6 to go..unless they add in another for the show. Should be Rook's Rest, both Sunfyre fights on Dragonstone, God's Eye, and 2nd Tumbleton. We should be averaging at least 2 dragon duels per season. That's not counting other major setpieces that involve dragons like Gullet or 1st Tumbleton either < major spoilers
how big do danys dragons compare to the HOTD dragons? drogon seems smaller than vhagar but bigger than the others?
“Drogon when last seen in Game of Thrones was slightly smaller than Daemon's Caraxes from House of the Dragon, who is less than half the size of Vhagar.”
I have seen some dragon experts on twitter sharing this model as what appears to be the most agreed upon size comparison
Does Vaghar live in the dragon pit with the rest of them? I get that the dragon pit is huge but from what we saw of that one corridor at least it seems hard to imagine he would fit. Or do they live elsewhere if they get to be his size?
I actually forget where it’s mentioned she lives in the book if at all, but earlier this season when Corlys tried to betroth Laena to Viserys and she was talking to him about Vhagar, she said something about like “where do you think she is now?” So it was implied after her previous rider Baelon died (that was Viserys and Daemon’s dad), she went off to nest somewhere. Probably somewhere on Dragonstone. now that Aemond claimed her…yeah who knows. She’d seem a bit cramped in the dragon pit.
Looking at that size chart just gets me pumped for injured flightless Sunfyre vs Moondancer on Dragonstone. "flying horse vs giant firebreathing chicken" dragon battle let's gooooo.
TBF it looked like the sized Arrax down....and based on age Arrax SHOULD be bigger than Drogon. But maybe Drogon grew more because he was free to roam instead of kept in teh dragon pit, ala Drogon being bigger than Rhaegal and Viserion after they got chained up. But Arrax should be 10-15 years old, roughly the same age as Luke, whereas Drogon was only supposed to be....3? maybe? by the time GOT ended. In the books he's only 1 turning 2 when Dany is still in Meereen.
Been checking out the artwork from The Rise of the Dragon. Some really cool shit in there Here’s Rhaenyra on Syrax
I’m sure there’s a 30 second clip of the GoT scene that explains this but it always seemed sus to be a bit that in GoT they had the scorpions (is that what they were called?) ready almost instantly as soon as they maybe heard that dragons were alive again. It’s like 250+ years between the dragon sightings and get that there would be historical info on how people fought them and maybe idk they built the Scorpions asap but they just suddenly seemed to be there it im remember correctly and for as memorizing and haunting as dragons are, 250 years is a looooooong time for humanity to suddenly just remember what to build or whatever but maybe I’m overthinking it
i think there's a difference between inventing a tech and resuscitating one that they had probably heard stories about all their lives lol
I get that but idk why they would keep hearing about it after 250+ years. But again, hard to say that WOULDN’T be the case if we had dragons because well, DRAGONS. That said, I’m not even sure any dragons went down that way? I don’t recall from World of Ice and Fire and F&B but maybe I’m forgetting, but recall most dying by fighting each other or when they collapsed the dragon pit <—- maybe spoiler for how some things end up happening for dragons
Really considering pulling the trigger on F&B. Can’t get the finale and show in general out of my head. Also need that animated spin off soon. Fucking fully back on board with this world. Thanks daddy Viserys and co
Fantastic finale, great first season. Love the prequel to the prequel. Next season is going to be nuts. also, really loved that the dragons caused the “accident”, rather than it being implied that it was on purpose. A lot of the choices and liberties it seems that the screenwriters are taken are to improve the ambiguity of the characters, while not losing any of the nuances of each chess piece of the war. Also, Matt Smith crushed it yet again with the absolute seething anger in this episode
real big “i wouldn’t have done any of that” energy. just fly back home and tell your mom “uhh yeah you said it would be easy and fuckING VHAGAR was there, send your husband”
