I like that it's a subversion of what happens in the book, but still using the story of how it happens in the book as a cover.

What an episode

 

next week should be the final timejump of this story. Next episode we're finally going to be into the concurrent timespan the majority of the Dance takes place

 

What a great episode. Probably my favorite of the season so far?

 

God damn these kids are gonna be fucked up

 

I could watch the Aemond riding Vhaegar scene on a loop for hours. so so good.

 

I got whiplash from how magical that scene was to what immediately followed

 

Little weird from the previews how for the next timejump they recast older Aemond but kept the same actor for Aegon, and now Aemond looks bizarrely much older than whose supposed to be his big brother.

 

dude hopped off the dragon, was like “yeah it’s me, you’re a bastard, your mom is dead, what did the 5 fingers say to the face?” And the next 15 minutes had my anxiety up haha

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but that entire scene in the hall with the court after the chickens fight was I’m pretty sure entirely created for the show, right? Like I don’t remember a scene in the books where Alicent goes that hard AND harms the heir to the throne. I think I do remember her asking for an eye of one of the kids but I don’t remember the book saying much more about it.

 

Oh wow! I gasped at the end of that episode lmao. I didn’t think they’d do it

 

People were kinda hinting at that over the last week but it must’ve been something added in later. That was not part of the initial leaks at all afaik

 

When they showed us Laenor, I immediately assumed the body was Qarl's, but then they gave me the double surprise with Qarl on the boat too. Crazy

 

And also again it can't be said enough how awesomely massive Vhagar is.


Also I'm pretty sure she was just like "Oh alright you got the silver hair and know them fancy sounding words, whatever man just climb on IDGAF anymore you already woke me up."

 

Also....love how Alicent got a look at just what Otto cares about when he basically was like "yeah fuck the eye he got us Vhagar"...there seemed to be a flicker of recognition on her face before she accepted it

 

Everyone in the show: aging

Maybe it was just me (and not a major complaint) but was this episode super dark for anyone else? gave me major long night vibes with how dark it was at points

 

It wasn't even that it was dark to me....but rather that low evening light they shot a solid chunk of the episode in. It was dusk and they sure made it look like dusk haha. The night scenes with Aemond riding Vhagar felt easier to see than those dusk scenes.
