the time jumps keep it exciting for me. the books are there to enjoy the stuff the show doesn’t cover. i don’t need 6 seasons covering every granular detail here.

 

it’s like 230 pages. I don’t know how much the show plans to do after the dance is done.

 

I’m really not having any issue keeping up with who’s who and events etc. not a book reader either so idk. Just enjoying the ride

 

i don’t think it’s been that difficult if you’re paying attention. they’ve done an extremely good job with the casting.

 

Yeah and I think they've done a good job of lingering on peoples faces so you get to know them, grouping them with their families, and of course exposition in the dialogue that doesn't feel super ham fisted to me....like they've managed a way to tell us how much time has passed between like every episode without feeling forced haha.

 

Who were the people in the dragon pit with the kids? Weird that no one had their parents there but these random people lol are they like the dragon experts or watchers? Don’t recall if they’re ever mentioned in the books and know they don’t really play a role, but stood out that no parents with, you know, dragon blood and history, were there to help teach the kid to tame his dragon

 

Yes we’ve seen them many times this season they take care of the dragons/dragon pit

 

yeah the quick story is basically after the dragonpit was constructed, Jaehaerys comissioned 77 "Dragonkeepers" to basically be the guards and such of the pit. Only real thing we get in the books I think is it just mentions that they're really supposed to more like guards with armor and stuff, whereas the show seems to have made them more like zoo keepers. They're probably more in between where they're guards but also definitely form decent relationships with the dragons and have at least some "control" over them and their behaviors.

I believe they're the ones that gave Daemon's dragon the nickname "The Blood wyrm"

 

the dragonpit is so cool. i had no idea or maybe just missed it that thats where they all were at the end of GoT, very cool connection to this. i want a dragonpit.

 

Sounds like if you marry Jason Lannister you can get one!

House of the Dragon: Aegons Conquest


GIVE ME WHAT I WANT

 

If I had to rank what I wanted to see the most...

1. HOTD: The Old King's Reign
2. HOTD: The Conquest
3. HOTD: The First Blackfyre Rebellion (the other ones I assume will be covered in Dunk & Egg and other places)
4. HOTD: The Mad King & Robert's Rebellion


After that, it's hard for me to fathom what a show might "center" on, for lack of a better term. Like, there's Maegor the Cruel, but that would mostly just be a show about a shitty king doing shitty things until he dies haha. After the Dance, there's kind of this long list of rulers that, at least in my opinion, aren't super fascinating/don't have anythnig major going on outside of the Blackfyre rebellions. I guess some people might want to see the conquest of Dorne with Daeron and then Baleor the Blessed (and of course getting Aemon the Dragonknight would be cool), but that again doens't feel like something you can create a whole interesting show out of for anybody but the Westerosi nerds like me (and, again, wouldn't really be something I really need to see before those other 4 haha)

 

...and I just realized if we did a show on the first Blackfyre rebellion, we'd get Aemon the Dragonknight anyway because the first season of that show would almost undoubtedly have to be about the reign of Aegon the Unworthy

I only hope that with all these shows in development that they try to keep it one at a time, I Just don't want the market to get oversaturated and collapse the way THe Walking Dead did and the way the MCU feels like it is at times right now. But, I know that's an impossible ask with all the money floating around.

What's funny/sucks is this probably would have been a perfect call to make BEFORE he did The Witcher. But the fact that he's done that role makes me feel like he'd be way less likely to do Aegon lol

 

If they wanted to do The Mad King and Robert's Rebellion, if they did that fast enough, they could still get Young Ned/Young Elrond to play Young Ned again lol

 

I mean they could also do a direct followup and do House of the Dragon: The Broken King about the reign of Aegon III, the silent siege, the whole Viserys/Rogare thing, Alyn Velaryon's 6 journeys, whatever GRRM plans to do with the Witch Queen/Harrenhal stuff < F&B spoilers and HOTD future character spoilers

 

i still think they should give this current story at least 3 more seasons before they move onto anything else.

 

I still hold my position that the reign of Jaehaerys I holds the most potential terms of adaptation. Those portions of F&B were actually longer and denser than the Dance. They have so much from that story on the page to work with. Also again I think it would be a breath of fresh air to do a story that still has all the family drama, courtly intrigue, and political subterfuge, but where war isn't a focus.

 

Right. Go high sophisticated drama with it, but also there’s still dragons!
