I just saw a TikTok about that. GoT hit 44m in S8. Euphoria hit 15m. Succession averages 5m. Really wild in that perspective how quickly we all came running back to Westeros.
Insane fucking numbers. I wonder what the book sales and other media sales have been. I would suspect anyone who wanted the books bought them during GoT’s run but maybe Fire & Blood has seen an uptick if people skipped that earlier. But could see all the books being up in sales.
I imagine the success this is having is going the grease a lot of wheels on the other possible shows in development too. GOT Extended Universe is definitely gonna happen now. What's frustrating is this ALWAYS made the most sense to be the first spin off out of any other idea except for maybe Robert's Rebellion. The fact that they didn't just do this first and instead tried the Bloodmoon one first only to let it languish after an uninspiring pilot sucks, because I would have liked to seen that concept borne out into a show too. Probably woulda had a better chance to get developed AFTER they saw the success this one was having.

From watching the show and reading the book again i'm realizing subtexts to characters I didn't really think about the first time. Like with Ser Criston Cole : The main thing about his character, his motivations, and how his arc ends is that he seems to think he's in a different kind of story. He has these almost childlike like delusions about what being an honorable knight in Westeros is supposed to be, and the horrible brutal reality what love/politics/war really like is just constantly checking him. The way his story ends is just absolutely perfect, and i can't wait for that to be depicted in the show. < obviously book and probably show spoilers

I just started reading Fire and Blood two days ago. I think it would have been cool if they did a couple minute intro at the beginning of ep one that showed a flashback of sorts of Aegon the Conqueror bringing all the 7 kingdoms under one rule.
It would have been cool to set everything up that way, the same way Fellowship does to give us a brief history.....but I assume they didn't because HBO probably said leave that untouched incase we want to make a whole show out of it.
yeah. The Fellowship type way was exactly what i was thinking of as i was reading. I think that would have been a nice jump off point to the show.
that would be a good one. Quite a few possibilities and motives laid out in the book. daemon is the most obvious I think, and the king being the most intriguing
Re-reading F&B I was thinking they could definitely do an entire show on the reign of Jaehaerys I, there is definitely enough material in the book for it. if they do it would have to be different than any other GoT-verse show though. It would be a straight up family political drama akin to The Crown, more court intrigue and romance than dragons and violence. I don't want them to do anything that's going to be in F&B volume 2 until GRRM eventually finishes that, which might take awhile. Do Aegon's Conquest, the conflicts during Maegor's reign, and the long reign of Jaehaehyrs first.
