i was basically zapruder film-scrubbing through the scene and it looks like joffrey was walking away and then turned to say something and then you hear the woman scream

i pulled the ep back up and it's inthe background while rhae and dae are making eyes

 

per the leaks i read which were like 98% right in this episode it was him mentioning Rhaenyra's "moon tea" to Cole, which per the leak was spread around by Larys but i'm guessing that was cut.

 

Damn that episode was everything that makes this universe great. Alicent has an unparalleled mean mug.

Just from quick shots we’ve seen of Vhagar and how they did her justice with how massive she is



I will feel robbed if we don’t get to see the black dread at some point, in some show, in literally any capacity.

Alright…only thing I’ll spoiler here is stuff from the book we have not seen yet.

-As I said live, completely taken aback by the direction they went with Criston’s story and how that all went down. Just bought the honorable kingsguard knight angle hook line and sinker. I always assumed the rift started because she came onto him and he was angry she tested his honor. Very cool to see the show take the other angle.

-His confessing to Alicent and her letting him go..good stuff

-Poor Viserys. Dude gets so frustrated with everyone around him, and now his sicknesses are getting worse. Also, just caught tonight that the younger Maester is supposed to be Orwyle. Remember the name but can’t remember why. Will have to look it up haha.

-Loving all the House Strong we got this episode. Larys doing his thing with Alicent (to what end? Hmmm…I mean I read the book so I know where it all eventually goes but…he is still an enigma.). Harwin getting the nod from his dad and then just going into the brawl and just absolutely wrecking shit. So good. I do wonder if they have done enough to foreshadow his future roll, looks like we’re diving headfirst into it next week though
-Some great comedy scenes at the wedding. Jason Lannister and his exchange with the king and princess, and then making the face when Rhaenyra and Leanor meet…lol. Daemon walking up to the dais and giving that shit eating grin also great. Also "I'm positively bereft, such a horrible accident." lol

-Alicent walking in at the complete wrong (right) time with the green dress, and everyone taking notice of it. Glad we got that moment, but at the same time I am still kind of sort of disappointed that it didn't play out like it did in the books, with the tourney and Daemon's crown, and the black dress all at once. But the way they handled it all the last couple episodes was good too.

-Daemon hitting on Laena..here we go

-The brawl at the end and the way they ended the episode was crazy. Once again another change from the books with Ser Lonmouth, but I suppose it's easier to do it this way then to film another tourney. Harder to explain Criston's actions though...Also not sure how he isn't punished. I suppose alicent will stick up for him, but not only did he murder a guest, he also punched the future King Consort.

-The Daemon/Rhaenyra stuff was crazy, they were getting awfully close there right before the brawl starts. Viserys was looking pissssssssssed.

-Thought it was kinda weird the decided to just have the wedding right then. I guess it became a "lets just get this done" after that death lol.

 

Emily Carey will be greatly missed going forward. She was so good in this episode.

 

Minor nitpick because I get it and the acting was superb in the scene but surprised they went with the cliche “character is talking but is unnecessarily vague for purposes of the plot and different character thinks they’re talking about them so they give info the other person didn’t know”.

 

I had to turn the volume up for how soft spoken Larys is, but honestly Larys being that soft spoken is kind of perfect.

 

Re: Larys - As a PT, it pains me when shows/movies have actors use canes on the wrong side just to play up the fact that they limp. It should be on the opposite side so they DON’T limp lol.

do not take anything the Clubfoot does at face value. His intention is to appear weak and non-threatening. The cane very much could be partly for show.

 

I use subtitles for this show because I miss a lot and it helps keep peoples names in order.

 

in the teaser for episode 6 that’s Jacaerys and Vermax burning…something or someone right?

 

I don’t doubt that but it happens all the time so this just adds to it lol. Rarely do tv/movie productions use assistive devices how they are intended to be used.

 

I understand there may be a story reason to him using a cane but that does not change the fact that they do it on purpose to make an impairment more obvious. I was only making an observation as a generality.

I just feel like the industry in general could use them correctly to normalize disability rather than making it a big flashing arrow. It happens way too often.

 

haha I was just using it as an excuse to use a gif of perhaps the most famous example of that in modern TV. I only remember it because they even made his use of his cane on the wrong side a subplot of one of the episodes.

 

also weird rando dude in red just throws laenor on the table when he tries to get back in and no one bats an eye bc it's chaos haha

i do wonder which theory well get next week for harrenhall

 

One little detail i picked up on…it seems they are differentiating male and female dragons with the tails…the tails with the little club-like ending on them seem to be the males, while tales that just get thinner until their endpoint are the females. Seems to match up with some of the sketches out there comparing dragon sizes too.

except Caraxys that dude has a fucked up prong tail so maybe my theory is wrong lol

That's one thing from the books that i actually hope they leave as being somewhat ambiguous. everything involving Harrenhal, the Strongs, and a certain character from Harrenhal we'll meet later in the show i hope they gradually just give us breadcrumbs about. < stuff from books

 

There was another character that will be more prominent throughout the show that was introduced in this episode but only just a second.
Maester Orwyle
