One of the most impressive things about this show so far is that they introduced one of the most important, fascinating, and consequential characters two episodes ago, and most of the audience didn't even notice him...and that's likely 100% by design. His introduction was so perfect.
if you’re worried about spoilers for HOTD be careful, they are sprinkled all through out the book haha
Good to know, but I’m not too worried mostly because I probably won’t remember by the time the show gets to it
World is more the broad strokes of the story compared to F&B which gets into the weeds, but still don't be too sure you won't remember lol.
My wife suddenly remembered something a character said in Game of Thrones that’s a spoiler for this show. What triggered it was some foreshadowing that appeared quickly in the last episode
Yeah at minimum you'll want to skip probably all the Targ history when it gets to Viserys' rule. The rest of the book that gets into all the regions and houses also mentions the major events of the Dance here and there when talking about the history of major houses and their parts in the Dance. You can probably easily spot those and skip over those parts.
Thanks @Halitosis Jones and @David87 I’m actually kind of weird when it comes to spoilers in things. If something gets spoiled for me, depending how invested in the item I am, it may actually make me MORE interested because then I know what’s to come but maybe not how they get there. Not saying that’s the case here or for every spoiler or bit of info that comes about, but even if something gets spoiled in the book idk I’ll be fine with it. I also don’t know if I’d consider it a spoiler for me because the book came out years ago and I should have read it back then lol like… were you guys pissed when you read the book or was that back before there were more shows confirmed and you thought that might be the only avenue for getting that part of the story told?
That's basically me in a nutshell. There are rare times when I really don't want to be spoiled, but by and large I'm more about the journey than the destination.
Just for reference if anyone wants to watch this or avoid watching it for the spoiler, it's in episode 5x9 the one where Shireen gets burned alive.
Just looked this up. It's episode 3x4 when Joffrey is giving Margaery Tyrell a history lesson while showing her around the Red Keep. Wow that's a huge spoiler too. The one with Shireen in season 5 kind of just spoils the "moral of the story" of HotD, this one though just outright spoils a major part of the endgame of this show. That episode should definitely be avoided.
Joffrey says that Rhaenyra Targaryen was murdered by her brother – or rather, his dragon. ‘It ate her while her son watched. What’s left of her is buried in the crypts down there.’ For everyone else: this is like thee spoiler of the show. don’t click if you don’t want to know
The season 5 Shireen HotD spoiler was something like Shireen: The Targaryens were decimated after the war and they never truly recovered Stannis: If you had to choose between Rhaenyra or Aegon whose side would you choose? Shireen: I would choose neither. It's picking sides that made everything so horrible Pretty much just spoils GRRM's point of the story; which is that in the end this entire conflict is stupid, futile, and that neither side was in the right. This story is very much like a classical greek tragedy.
