Watching again. Caught some sneaky foreshadowing of something huge that will happen later in the series. If you read the book go re-watch the scene with Rhaenerya in King's Landing streets where she runs into the fortune teller (episode spoiler) you'll see what i'm talking about.

 

The sex scene in this episode was actually hot, smh yet another aspect of Game of Thrones abandoned

Rooting for team Uncle-Niece

 

According to AWOIAF, the Bracken/Blackwood's we saw last night were Samwell Blackwood and Amos Bracken. The story was they fought a duel over Rhaenyra when she visited the Riverlands, but obviously they changed some details there. Pretty cool that they found a way to incorporate it lol

Edit-Apparently the duel did NOT end in the death of either of them, and they fought later in a battle during the Dance of Dragons

not getting some of that stuff 100% doesn't really matter to me. like, they're making a tv show lol. this is a more entertaining usage of the story than waiting until next season on a battlefield and having to remember who these two dorks are

 

the ancient Blackwood/Bracken family blood feud definitely will come back in the GoT-verse eventually. Brynden Rivers aka Bloodraven who later became "Three Eyed Raven" is half Targaryen half Blackwood bastard and his sworn enemy during the blackfyre rebellions is his half-brother Aegor Rivers aka Bittersteel, a half Targaryen half Bracken bastard who went on to found the Golden Company. The family blood feud is a part of the reason they hate eachother. Bloodraven being the first example in the lore of Targ blood mixing with blood of the First Men is very important to the overall arc. Thinking about it now, Rhaenyra 100% should have chose to marry that Blackwood kid (book spoilers)

 

Reading about Aegon IV's bastards and that he may have had daughter with his first mistress and then potentially that daughter becomes his eight mistress. So fucked up.

If they ever do an adaptation of that time periods big events, how they deal with that among the numerous other Aegon IV issues will be interesting to me.

I live posted it at the moment but the little exchange in the gardens after daemon gets home is gold. Alicent suggesting they look at the tapestries, a notion so ridiculous even the good hearted Viserys can’t help but make fun of her and laugh in her face, only for Rhaenyra to try and bail her out and Viserys doing immediate laugh-to-scowl and say well then you should go enjoy them. So good.

Isn’t she now? Wasn’t she 15 before the 3 year jump? Or was she 15 after the jump? Make her maybe 16 here?

 

She’s 15 in the books when this stuff happens.

 

She was 17 last week, so if it’s a 3 year time jump she’s 20, if it’s only like a yearish like some of us think she’s 18 now

 

Honestly I kind of want to see those Norvosi tapestries...
