yeah they went a very interesting direction. Of the 3 tales we got, this was the one I believed least likely
Everything that happens between Rhaenerya/Daemon/Cole. The book has multiple unreliable narrators, and these events are all presented in the book as second or third hand court gossip. We get multiple varying different account on what happens. The show chose to go with the most salacious of the accounts.
In the books it’s not confirmed that she and Criston get it on. We’re told various stories that one of them was in love with the other, and that daemon either deflowered her himself, or he was training her on how to seduce Criston. The tale most often believed is that either she came onto Criston or he onto her, and the one who made the advances was rejected. the show seems to have kind of gone a different direction, having the Daemon thing be kinda sorta true where they clearly fooled around, AND then they decided to have her seduce Cole AND have him go along with it. I was waiting that whole scene for him to stop it and let honor win the day but nope
yes. Once we get past the background stuff this season the main bulk of the story this show is going to tell takes place over the course of only around 2 and half years.
still unclear though why criston is so pissed at her, though i’m guessing it’s daemon he’s punching in the preview
i'm guessing he feels betrayed because he believe that Daemon slept with her right before he did. Probably feels like he was tricked into sullying his honor and risking his position I'm sure we'll find out more next episode.
I'm glad this show is laying down the foundation of the Blackwood/Bracken rivalry for when they inevitably adapt the Blackfyre Rebellion stuff years from now and that becomes a lot more consequential. i think it comes back in this story too at the very start of the Dance with the Blackwoods and Brackens taking opposite sides (book spoilers] but not near as major to the story as that rivalry is to Blackfyre Rebellion stuff.
I love this shittttttt Also trying to differentiate between episode discussion spoilers and book spoilers fuckin sucks! I guess I will just avoid all of them
Yeah my guess is (book spoilers on events to come based on what transpired tonight) initially he's already a little bit miffed that she would sully his honor like that, but obviously is a little infatuated with her and willing to forgive her, but then maybe finds out about Daemon and that hardens his resolve against her
Yeah that was good. Love the way Viserys handled Otto, and I loved Rhaenyra's escapades through the city until uh, I didn't.
I just edited my post after this to clarify. I'll be honest I probably won't spoiler things happening in the episode that airs, mostly because it's too hard to do that AND book stuff haha. I've had to stay away from threads of shows I watch if I knew I couldn't watch live.
Yeah my guess is we'll see them slow down towards the end of this season, once the characters are adults. There are still some series' of events that need to happen once they're grown that probably require a little bit of a time jump, but not nearly as drastic as what we've seen.
