what we saw happened did in fact happen but def not that exact way. But the outcome of those two characters and the location of it happening were true to the book

Show spoilers: That shot of Rhaenyra walking to the Iron Throne in the reflection of Otto's pool of blood was fucking epic.
Basically the end scene they combined two scenes from the book in one. Rhaenyra taking the Iron Throne and Hightower's execution don't happen at the same exact time in the book. In the book Rhaenyra taking the throne was a lot more subtle where she sits upon it and immediately accidentally stabs herself on it implying to the reader as a bad omen. They were a lot more explicit here.
