I have my issues with s2 but overall I have hopes the show will continue to be entertaining. As a non book reader however I definitely see the frustration with how dense the story is described by you guys. Definitely would prefer a 10 ep season 3 & 4.
It’s def still entertaining, it just sucks that we’re gonna get a half assed telling of the story now and so many details changed that didn’t need to be. If they get to where I think they need to get to to really tell the whole story of the dance, I feel like season 4 is gonna feel like Season 8 GOT levels of whiplash. Hard to imagine they pull off the beats of the story there the way they did the first 5 episodes of season 1 where they jumped from event to event but still managed to flesh out characters for us.
Was it known by season 5 or 6 of GoT that they were ending it after 8 seasons or was that announced later like during season 7? Only slight hope is that announcing and knowing now that they have two seasons left to tell this story maybe they can pace it better and not fumble it like GoT but I don’t have high hopes. If each season is 8 episodes that gives us 16 left so that’s about 20-22 hours of show (maybe being too optimistic there with some longer episodes and literally counting the actual screen time not the run time) and I think that’s gonna be hard to do the story justice in that amount of time.
Was looking for the David Reads ASOIAF youtube videos because I put them on in the background sometimes while doing work during my planning period, and it looks like they may have been removed from youtube. I went digging around for them and ended up on the guy's BLuesky and he re-tweeted this months ago and it made me lmao
I frankly do not care at all about GRRM’s involvement in any of the shows since all dude loves to do is complain literally just go write dude
Oh for sure, Season 2 not getting the proper ending it needed to have to keep it on par with Season 1 is almost entirely Zaslav's fault IMO. But I do assume it's Condal that has made the changes that we've seen with the Hull brothers and Rhaena that will make future storylines drastically different, if not outright impossible. Don't want to spoil anything (can't remember if you read Fire and Blood or not), but there's a specific part of the story between Rhaenyra and Daemon that more or less can't happen if the choices they've made are what we all think they are. It basically erased a whole character and replaced them with Rhaena. And they're either gonna have to change Daemon's whole story including his relationship with Rhaenyra, or they're gonna have to make the reason for something that happens in the future be much more lame lol Switching the Hull brothers is a strange choice too, and that's the choice that makes me reallllly worried that we're not gonna get the full ending to this story with the aftermath that truly finishes the Dance. They play a big role in the true ending of the full story and when the show was announced I was hoping they'd get the story all the way there, but now I'm worried we're gonna end right when all the hostilities end.
Yeah all of that reads to me that GRRM is being a diva about his work. Ryan was hired to run the show. Let him run it. If he doesn’t take your notes and criticism then read the room. On top of that to publicly air it out as well? Weird behavior
