I’m certainly weary/pessimistic of only having 16 episodes left. Can’t recall offhand if HBO/the GoT team knew or planned in advance for shorter seasons or if that was a short-notice surprise to some extent but with how poorly the shorter seasons went for GoT it’s certainly worrying that HotD experiences the same thing (although different show runners of course with, seemingly, people who WANT to be doing this and not dreaming of Star Wars so they get some benefit of the doubt until proven wrong).
They apparently planned 10 episodes and HBO told them to only do 8 right before the strikes started and they couldn’t edit scripts. They got an exemption to shoot during the strikes because it was all in Europe so of course they had to go through with it.
book spoilers The House of R podcast is saying based on how much Condall in an interview with them was hammering home about how Rhaenyra is the main character of the show, they think we only get one episode post-her death and, thus, no Hour of the Wolf and no crowning Aegon III. that seems like it cannot be right. why cast and even bother with Cregan then? They think the show ends with allicent telling Aegon III the song of ice and fire
I don't think that last part is right because I think the whole point of the song of ice and fire prophecy thing in this is to show how it becomes lost, and thus leaving the future Targaryens unprepared for what is coming
the more I think about this, the more convinced I’m going to need a Roberts Rebellion show because Im really going to need to know how Aegon V rediscovered the prophecy as I assume he did, hence the Summerhall event, and again how Rhagar discovered it.. I don’t know if a Roberts Rebellion show would cover the first, but it should cover the second assuming they do a season of set up for it like they did with S1 of HOTD
Finally going to pick the book back up and give it a read. Started last year but just didn't have the time to consistently read.
Yeah but I wouldn’t expect S3 until 2026 unless they go for late 2025, but I think that’s unlikely Seems like they want to keep it in the summer
Am I crazy or didn’t this shit used to start while the current season was still being shown on TV? Why do they space it out so much now?
Especially for a show like this where there’s no question there will be an audience for future seasons. They should film it like lord of the rings and just do them all at once
