bunch of nerds digs through my boxes in the garage to find my copy of A World of Ice and Fire my ex-wife gave to me like 10 years ago
Yeah that scene was so fucking good. And considering it was done in complete secrecy, it makes sense it wouldn’t have ended up in the stories about the war.
I believe he claims Targaryen blood (aka “dragon seed”) but I don’t know if there’s a specificity to it re: being Baelon the Brave’s bastard. But without spoiling anything, there is reason he gives others to believe he does have Targ blood
Also I kinda forgot this but while it was said they were friends in their earlier days, they weren’t BFF like the show is saying. The show messes with the timeline somewhat to make it work. I think Alicent is actually like 10-15 years older in the book or something like that
I have a copy but have not read Fire and Blood yet but from my understanding some of the events only have several sentences about them so GRRM has not actually fully written them out. I think the unreliable narrators and how these events actually unfolded being open to interpretation is what makes this series so good. They have guidelines but still have room to embellish and make it their own.
I get that a book cannon fires books, but what does a show cannon fire? You can't fire a show, it's not a physical object. Most you could do is shoot the footage.
I don't understand why though? The book is written in the format of fictional official historical record of events. The narrator is an archmaester with biases and a narrow pov. It's basically propaganda. The book wouldn't include a secret meeting that Rhaenyra told almost nobody about. That is the beauty of adapting this book, they have room to play around with the premises how they want. Book readers should know better.
