Pretty insane, but I also feel like I didn’t see or hear much hype until like the last 10-14 days before the premier
I'd imagine it'll pick up over the next couple of weeks. There are probably a decent amount of people who are not chronically online and had no idea it came back after a two year gap.
Damn first they confuse them with cheesesteak and then throw “hoagie” into the explanation. That aint right
Maybe raising the price and loading the service with reality tv garbage has made a lot of people drop the service in favor of sailing the seas.
It'll pick up a little bit but I honestly don't think the quality of the first season was strong enough to have maintained or grown the audience. Sure, there are die hard game of thrones fan, and it'll quickly become the show of the week where those with FOMO will flock to it, but an overall popularity drop seems likely - it's just how small will it end up. 50% seems too high, but I wouldn't be surprised if the seasons ends about 20-30% less popular.
I personally dont know anyone who thought it was as good as peak game of thrones, and i know a couple of people who lost interest expecting that and not getting it, but its all anecdotal. I think with the gluttony of TV, its hard for a BIG show (that came out hyped out of the gates) to maintain or grow an audience but thats just my gut telling me that. I wasnt surprised to see it start with lower numbers but i could be totally wrong about where it ends up and its just a marketting thing. In the end, just speculative. I was lukewarm about continuing but i will as its generally a good hour of TV, if flawed.
Everyone that I know that watched it absolutely loved it so I think it’ll be the most successful HBO show of all time.
The tough part with this series and its source material is it makes it hard to spend tons of time with the same characters as they plot and scheme like we got with GOT. It was basically we gotta do a few episodes of build up and jump into the conflict. It remains to be seen if the conflict itself is good enough to keep people ravenous for more like they were with GOT.
Yeah season 1 of HOTD is easily better than seasons 7, 8, and 5 overall. Possibly better than 1 and 2 overall considering all the action we got. Peaks are higher for GOT so far though (but Viserys’ walk to the throne and dinner scene are top tier)
