It’s a 2.5 hamfest centered around a real-life murder. Adam Driver remains one of the best working actors. Lady Gaga is a good mix of charming and intense. They have great chemistry. Al Pacino, Salma Hayek and Jeremy Irons chew scenery like few can.

My one sticking point is Jared Leto. He is to me like cilantro is to people that say it tastes like soap. Pacino is goofy, but grounds his character. Leto basically treats his like he’s a Sacha Baro Cohen character with less-convincing makeup (I couldn’t stop thinking of how much he looked like Katy Perry in her “Birthday” music video). Every annoying acting choice he makes in his recent movies, be it “Blade Runner 2049,” “The Little Things” or this, is another mile farther I’d like to see him shot into space.

Otherwise, good movie! Ridley Scott and Adam Driver are 2 for 2 with their 2021 collaborations!

whoops, late reply. i really liked this. while not the best of the two ridley bangers, i was pretty locked in for all 150+ minutes. even leto, while bad, was better than i expected. he mostly felt like he belonged in a different, more unwieldy movie. that was screentime that i felt could've potentially gone to more of salma hayek's character. everyone else was different degrees of enjoyable, namely driver

honestly wouldn't be shocked if this stiffs at the box office akin to the last duel, so i hope that WOM and maybe star power (which means less and less these days, admittedly) propels others to see this around thanksgiving. that mediocre ghostbusters movie is already poised for about $40 million come monday, watch this one

the scene where it smash cuts from Jared Leto about to yell “shit” to a car horn honking … that’s why it’s Sir Ridley and not just Ridley

You should lose your knighthood for casting him, though.

Why did Scott not care about accents in The Last Duel but used them here? Leto's Wario impression is the worst but they are all pretty questionable.

It's become a cliche to say this at this point, but it should have been a mini-series. The movie is too long for just the A plot but it wants to tell so much more about these side characters that could have been bit parts in a tighter movie.

i’m very glad it wasn’t a miniseries. this is a better film than all the money in the world, which was a much better movie (though it wasn’t great) than the multi-part fx miniseries of the same story.

not to mention the production wouldn’t have been as good and almost certainly would have been filmed in atlanta and los angeles as opposed to new york and milan

Enjoyed it. The style and italy scenery was great. Most of the performances were great. The climax & ending felt kinda rushed and hollow though.

i enjoyed this film as well as the last duel, but i can easily imagine one or both of these directors cuts being superior to the originals

This was….fine. I will probably never think about it again.

weird energy in my theater from the start.
Guy next to me wouldn’t stop aggressively sniffing, like he couldn’t breathe from his nose but he kept trying. He also got up to pee (or something) like 5 times.

A couple came in right as previews ended and people were in their reserved seats. So the seat-stealers then moved to the seats they apparently had bought which were occupied by other seat-stealers.
