Between new Fireworks and this album they pretty much nail the pain and fear of a christian upbringing. You know it’s good shit when it’s got you tearing up on a Friday morning at 7:30am.
Unrelated and feel free to ignore if too personal but any chance you’re in Seattle? I’m about to feel the pain of not buying an AC before this heat wave hits
I’m actually in MA and we have a few good days of 80 but nothing overly hot (yet). Definitely get that AC, I keep mine in year round lol
This was the sign I needed to order it as my apartment reaches 85° today haha MA rules, my sister lives in Boston!
Okay, I didn't really dig this band before, but this new album is doing it for me. I guess it's time to revisit their older work.
"Smahccked My Head Awf" (ugh) is really one of the most earnest/quietly sobering lyrical takes I've ever heard on losing a loved one to cognitive decline.
Spun this a few times but this band is just suitably not for me, some solid moments where he's really yelling tho
Agreed, nails the pain of seeing it happen and knowing there is literally nothing you can do but watch.
My 4 year old daughter always wants to know the name of every song playing. When she asked “what’s this song called?” during track 4 I had to take a deep breath and say “this song is called ‘this song is called it’s called what it’s called” and she laughed about it for a solid 10 minutes and kept making me repeat it.
This song hits hard for me. This is perhaps the best lyrical line ive heard in a long time for me. I can see your age It's in your face Every wrinkle to a year i cant replace
I really LIKE it. You’ll Be Fine is a bit better, for me, for now. But I also think he sings more on that record and I get an overload of his more abrasive vocal tones on this. I really love a lot of the songs. Can’t believe I’m gonna recommend that folks new to them begin with a track called “Cock Party.” I think it’s both a really good listen and a grower.
