I’d be stunned if they were already releasing a new album. Maybe like a 4 or 5 song EP but it’d be wild if they were already releasing a follow-up.
They just got done with touring for like a year straight. Can't imagine they'd already put out another full length. My guess is it's a standalone song and they release another acoustic EP in the fall.
Too early for another full album. Too late for a Deluxe Edition My money is on a 4-song EP including Stickers of Brian
New song (out if you can teleport to New Zealand) - End Eric Sparrow and The Life of Him. Sounds like by the numbers HM, not that that's a bad thing. Youtube has it grouped under an album with Stickers of Brian, so I wonder if we get an EP announcement tomorrow.
I mean they're my favorite band so it's not a terrible complaint but I'd like to see them make a few songs in the vein of the early soft and melodic stuff mixed in or just varied, things are sounding same-y.
For an EP, or for a few one offs I wouldn’t worry about it. I’ll wait to judge until they make their next album statement!
True, I don't like that song lol. It's a crime that Swag isn't on that album in it's place. Such a great song.
End Eric Sparrow is awesome. Would not call it “by the numbers” Hot Mulligan besides from maybe the chorus. Stickers of Brian is also really good.
I think the songs are always going to be a bit samesy because of his voice and the 'noodly' guitar style, like you wouldn't ever not know it's Hot Mulligan, but they're not a band where I get any of the songs mixed up / confused at all. The hooks are all different enough, and they play around with dynamics pretty well. The mixing / guitar tones on End Eric Sparrow are different enough to set it apart from most of what was on the last album. It sounds like Hot Mulligan but a fresh Hot Mulligan track. I dig both of the songs so far and I'll happily wait for them to rest before touring again.
I mean I don't really agree on them sounding the same throughout their career, each album is pretty distinctly different, Tades had been leaning into the gargle sing-scream pretty heavily in YBF and even heavier in Watch and the guitars were definitely way crunchier on Watch so that doesn't leave as much space sonically to me between the interaction of the two sounds. Sparrow sounds a bit different.
