The heart attack man online persona is 100 percent a satirical act, it’s wild to me that people don’t see that lol.
I don’t, but one of my best friends has been good friends for them for a long time and watched the show side stage last night. I trust his judgment!
I’m not saying your friend’s experiences are invalid or anything, but they’re friends with them. They’re not gonna be like “yeah my good friend is a fucking loser, fuck that guy” lol I’ve crossed paths with the singer a few times and have a small handful of friends who have played with them who think he’s insufferable online and off

Even if it was satire which it prob isn’t. You have to read the world. There’s 6 degrees of separation of knowing someone who is hurt by gun violence so the satire isn’t worth it.
They have a bumper sticker that says “I listen to heart attack man and have a gun” wow so edgy and cool
You don’t have to like it but come on, do you really think these songs are harmful? Has anyone ever said they found the lyrics offensive because of something that has happened to them? People are nuanced enough to understand that just because you have a song about something doesn’t mean you support that thing. Doesn’t Boston manor have a song about robbing a bank as well? a lot of the time this site seems to put them on the same level as bands that have serious allegations them, which is just silly to me. You definitely don’t have to like them and you can think they’re cheesy and silly, but stop acting like this band is actually causing harm.
This really isn’t an argument one way or the other lol, songs about robberies or criminals (whether metaphorical or literal) have existed through decades of popular music. I don’t really have an opinion on the Heart Attack Man thing specifically, but if your argument is that writing a song about those things is inherently bad, that’s pretty overly reductive imo
I’m not even a fan of this band, I checked out all their albums and they’re just ok to me lol. I just feel differently about this topic, and I think there’s a deeper discussion to be had here about this sort of thing outside of this band. I know a lot of people are put off by them, but I still don’t believe they’re actually causing anyone harm. I totally respect the opinion of “I won’t listen to x band for glorifying guns.” But it seemed odd to me that someone was disappointed with hot mulligan for bringing them on tour and being “buddies” with them.
Guess Bob Marley is canceled for “I Shot the Sheriff” since… *GASP*… it references guns! *pearl clutching intensifies*
If you think this is the same as the stuff he posts and says … you’re not in the same realm of reality or good faith, and yeah, I don’t think there’s a “deeper discussion” to be had.
So you knowing people that knows him validates your opinion but me knowing someone that knows him doesn’t validate mine?
