I'm with you. WWIW never fully clicked with me either. Felt like a weaker version of everything they had done previously. This new single is an absolute banger though.
Somebody posted the track list on Reddit with times for each song and if it's correct, five of the songs are 2-minutes or shorter.
Really, really love the last four songs they put out post WWIW. WWIW didn't stick with me 100% at first but it had giant staying power. So much going on in every song, it's definitely their most talented album. Betty is their only song I definitively don't like. Hard to choose between YBF and WWIW. The raw charm of their earlier stuff pre-YBF has a special spot, dare I say nostalgia but it's definitively not as consistent as their current stuff. Wouldn't mind them hacking into their earlier sound on a song or two but whatever it is I'm here for it and I like their direction for my personal taste.
Personally I enjoy You'll Be Fine and I Won't Reach Out To You the most, but Why Would I Watch still SLAPS. The band can't miss.
I love you’ll be fine and I found wwiw incredibly unbearable. It was a big disappointment to me. I don’t think it’s bad but I have no desire to return to it
I think they've gotten consistently better with every release, until the most recent EP, which I'd put on par. Fenton/Opportunities < Pilot < You'll Be Fine < I Won't Reach Out to You < Why Would I Watch = Warmer Weather.
I was just trying to illustrate quality in ascending order/chronologically, like it was building to something. I apologize to your head.
