Saw them last night and came away impressed. They were pretty fun and their drummer is a BEAST live. I spent most of the show pretty much just watching him.
If anyone needs a ticket to the Portland show, I have one available that I’d give away for free. I bought an extra balcony ticket for leg room since my bro and I are bigger people. You can totally be downstairs and enjoy the show. Tickets are going for crazy prices on stubhub for this tour lol
Pretty fucking excited for tonight. First time seeing everyone except Hot Mulligan and my first time seeing them headline. Arms Length released my favorite album of the year and been really getting into Anxious/Drug Church the past few months. The new HM is album is good stuff and I’m excited to hear these songs live. I think I’ll be able to appreciate the songs more live even though the record isn’t my favorite by them.
This show absolutely rocked. Anxious was a good choice to open the show. A ton of energy and honestly won a lot of people over. Arms Length was probably my favorite set of the night. Band absolutely slays live and I hope they are going to do a headliner for the new album that actually goes to the west coast. Drug Church is so much fun and incredibly tight. Set started a little slow but people were going crazy by the end. Hot Mulligan was a riot. New songs are fantastic live and the crowd went apeshit the entire time. Production on this tour was really cool and I cannot believe how amazing Tades sounds on the new songs. Dude has maybe the best live vocals in the scene right now.
One thing I will say that caught my attention is there were a ton of people there just for HM who seemed to not know how to handle being in a rowdy crowd. Lots of people dropping crowd surfers intentionally especially during Drug Church. Also a ton of talking while the openers were playing. If you’re just going to a show for the headlining band show up late or shut the fuck up please. Treating concerts like it’s some bar hangout is one of my pet peeves lol
the conversation I was subjected to while I was trying to enjoy drug church…some bro telling his fellow bros about how rich his new “girlfriend that goes to Harvard” that definitely really exists is….ugggghhhhh
Yep. Like I’m used to talking if it’s an acoustic set or a quieter act, but why in the fuck would you try to be talking during a Drug Church set? Pat also made a point to say that security is doing a great job but at some point the crowd has to take care of each other. Tons of young people there for HM that wanted to be front and center but dropped so many crowd surfers. I get not liking crowd surfing but don’t stand front/center if you don’t want to deal with that shit.
caught the tour tonight. haven’t been that deep in a crowd for a show in a long ass time and it was amazing. arms length got such a good reception here and were visibly and vocally surprised by it which made me happy. the pit went crazy for drug church. my neck is going to be hella sore from trying to lift all the crowd surfers. hot mulligan absolutely ripped and gave me a whole new appreciation for this record. random aside, is wearing ear buds at a show a thing now? i was wearing ear plugs but multiple people kept having to hold the crowd up while they searched for their airpods and such that slipped out of their ears. first time experiencing that.
Some people use AirPod Pros and the noise cancellation like earplugs, but that’s usually us old heads hanging out in the back, not in the pit.
AirPods fall out so easily especially the pros. Seems like an awful choice for ear protection at a show lol
I wear them all the time at shows (the pros) to cancel out noise. I have no idea if they actually work in the long run, but I don't have to deal with any ringing in my ears when I go to sleep. Only time it's ever fallen out was when someone dove on top of me at an Ingrown show.
No idea why one wouldn’t just wear regular earplugs , even good ones that are like $40 instead of the $250 AirPod pros that fall out super easily
I only started wearing ear plugs last year as the ringing started to become painful and kept me awake after Alkaline Trio, initially didn't feel like they were making a huge difference but I remember taking them back out during the applause after Jimmy Eat World a few months later and was astounded at the noise reduction. Have worn since.
Mainly because I already have them on hand, also because the number of times I've accidentally lost my earplugs in the washing machine far exceeds the nonexistent number of times with my AirPods. I remember in freshman year of college I went through three sets because I kept putting them in my back pocket and forgetting.
I’ve never had an issue with AirPods falling out. I guess I have the perfect ear size lol. Having said that, I wear Vibes earplugs for shows. They’re great. Happy Thanksgiving!
Regular AirPods are fine but my pros always slip out whenever I make any sort of sudden movement with my head lol
