*equips sunglasses* 750-ish words on this sound good to anyone else? Yeah, thought so: Album Review: Hot Mulligan - 'The Sound A Body Makes When It's Still' — When The Horn Blows
First impressions is that I like this a lot more than WWIW and could end up topping YBF over time. Really enjoying this
I wrote too much about it, gonna drop it tomorrow morning, one of those reviews where it was just really hard to capture how the record made me feel.
Really enjoyed your review. It made me really go back and listen to Monica Lewinskibidi while reading the lyrics…. Holy fuck. I’m crushed
First listen and I know I’m going to love this, but there’s so much going on to dig into. Band keeps finding new days to evolve and surprise me. Not as immediate as the last two records for me and that’s actually a good thing as this thing surprised me all over the place. Slumdog Scullionaire is going to absolutely go off live.
I actually talked about the immediacy in my review because I agree with you. But I think over time this will agree really well, I’ve probably heard the record like 20-30 times already, maybe more LOL.
Yeah, this is definitely not as immediate as WWIW because it’s just so dense. I know I’m going to love it, though. Off the cuff hot take after one listen that could easily change, but man, it feels like Slumdog should close this thing.
Through the power of a VPN, I’ve already listened to this one three times already. Lewinskibidy might be the best track they’ve ever done
First impression is that it's a lot of return to form in the sense of You'll Be Fine-ish sounds back into the mix while moving forward on their sound. I'm glad they went a little softer here. Some idiots complaining on reddit but you can tell they probably aren't early HM fans. The interludes might fair to be quite useless to me, but I'm feeling pretty optimistic that my favorite band just keeps hitting grand slams.
Yeah, as someone who absolutely adored YBF, this is great. Loving this already. Been touched on here, but Monica Lewinskibidi is absolutely crushing.
Incredibly affecting listen. Truly wild how emotional this gets. Honestly, at this point I can respect the unwavering dedication to the song title thing cause the contrast between the music and lyrical content and how to refer to the song is bewildering and hard to navigate. It is funny to consider trying to explain to someone who is not familiar with them how powerfully devastating a song like Monica is.
Not sure this is clicking as immediately with me, but It Smells Like Fudge Axe and Slumdog are excellent
Is anybody else's Apple Music screwed up? Somehow I'm getting Miliam Minute playing when its supposed to be Monica Lewinskibidi and vice versa. I was so confused reading some of the comments about Monica and was like yeah I don't see it folks.
