I thought the trailers for this were horrible. The movie itself is great. The tweet above is spot on.
My daughter was literally kicking her legs and laughing her ass off during that big wild moment. The theater was also going off.
this is quite good and a marked improvement over stuff like elio, elemental, lightyear etc. i knew it wouldn't be "funniest pixar yet" like early reactors said but i found myself chuckling a bunch of times. it's no classic but you'll probably enjoy yourselves in the moment, nothing wrong with that
also, there's at least four snl alumni voicing characters so i guess they had no choice but to bring jon hamm along for the ride as well
Saw the early screening on Saturday and reviewed it for my Substack! I really enjoyed it! 'Hoppers' Review: Always against the odds, one with the underdogs
Round 2 tomorrow, taking my daughter again and bringing my wife this time. I also got the Hoppers figurine set that was on the Disney shop and gonna surprise my daughter with those when we get home afterward.
The body horror of the climax was pretty jarring in a cool way. Reminded me of stuff that came out for kids in the 80s that felt obligated to include scary stuff to get kids comfortable confronting scary stuff. My 5 year old daughter was surprisingly chill with it despite being scared of earth giants from Frozen 2 to this day but it def set off my “this is spicy for kids” radar.
