Been listening to Painted Shut and Get Disowned for the first time today. Really great stuff, this band has jumped to one of my favorites in a really short period of time.
Someone once pointed out to me that Frances sounds like if Tommy Pickles fronted a really good band. Now I can't really unhear it, though I don't think she necessarily always sounds like that. There's just something about her hushed delivery and her scratchy head voice that I have trouble getting into as much as other people. The songwriting and everything else just about makes up for it though.
Frances' voice was the immediate draw to Hop Along for me, I think she has the ideal voice for rock music.
Last weekend I got drunk and played the vinyl for my friends and lit candles and shit like a weirdo and I plan on doing it again this weekend
