I’d say more so the structure of Painted Shut than the energy but yeah, it feels like a blend of both for sure (as well as a progression in its own right).

I’m totally in love with this now. Need more time to be sure, but I think I’m beginning to think it’s their best/my favorite by them.

Their last album didn't stick with me, but dang this album is really good. Given it a couple spins and it only gets better.

 

I hadn’t heard of Hop Along before Painted Shut and really disliked that album, but I love this one

 

What a perfect video for How Simple. I’m never going to be able to listen to that song without picturing Frances dancing along to it, which is a very good thing.

 

I think my favourite part of the album is the part in 'Prior Things' when Frances sings "nobody needs" like Joni Mitchell.

The chorus of “What the Writer Meant” for me. “God is the one who changed” is such a powerful line and I adore the arpeggiated melody that comes in during the second half of the hook

 

"one that suits me" made me cry on the train the other day

Yeah same here, it’s just so much fun to sing along to. It’s been stuck in my head for days. Lotta moments like that on this album
