Painted Shut is an all timer for me, and at this point I don't think this album will change that, but they definitely progressed musically/artistically from that album. I wouldn't dispute anyone who says this is their best.
Disowned/Painted have more cathartic highs but I think with this album they've crafted something spacious and timeless that will outlast both of those albums long-term. It may feel less instantaneous but I think the rewards will prove to stand the test of time more than anything they've put out
think they'll be like a Built to Spill type sitch w the fan favorite records but an incredibly consistently high quality discog
I replayed the Shaun Diston ep today AGAIN, pod of the year. My aoty of the year list is 1. Hop Along 2. Golden Globes Hollywood Handbook 3. Probably Camp Cope, after that its a mess.
Just as I was getting into it all the backlog got removed from Apple podcasts so I'm gonna have to get Sticher Prem to hear everything but I'm gonna do it. Haven't heard that ep yet but I can only assume it's a worthy #2
I wasn’t feeling the first few tracks but I got hooked at track 4. Good record, very excited to see them next month
I always get lost in the instrumentation on What the Writer Meant, I could listen to that song forever.
I'm gonna really fucking hate myself when I've worn this record out and can't listen to it for a while. But I also listened to it on the way to work and left early so I could listen to all of it.
Downloaded all of their (or Frances's) older stuff. Excited to run through them all. I really haven't listened to Get Disowned that much
disowned is great. a little too chaotic for me to pin down sometimes but great. love "laments" and "kids on the boardwalk"
I view this album as the perfect meeting of the energy of Painted Shut and the experimentation of Get Disowned
